More people are sick, and one death is under investigation in an outbreak of adverse reactions traced to micro-dosing edibles.

The implicated edibles — Diamond Shruumz brand cones, gummies, and chocolate bars — sold by Prophet Premium Blends of Santa Ana, CA, have been recalled nationwide. They are sold online and at retail stores.

There are now 48 people confirmed with adverse reactions, 27 of whom have required hospitalization. One person has died. Less than a week ago, the patient count was 39. A variety of serious reactions have been reported, including respiratory failure.

Sick people have been confirmed in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota and Tennessee.

Prophet Premium Blends recalled the Diamond Shruumz Infused Cones, Chocolate Bars, and Gummies (Micro—and Mega/Extreme-Dose) because they contain Muscimol, a chemical found in mushrooms.

The company had been refusing to take action, but after negotiations with the Food and Drug Administration, it finally recalled the products this past week.

Muscimol could be a potential cause of symptoms consistent with those observed in people who became ill after eating Diamond Shruumz products. Reported symptoms, in addition to respiratory failure, have included seizures, agitation, involuntary muscle contractions, loss of consciousness, confusion, sleepiness, nausea and vomiting, abnormal heart rates, and hyper/hypotension, according to the recall notice posted by the Food and Drug Administration.

Prophet Premium Blends has ceased the production and distribution of the Diamond Shruumz product line as the FDA and Prophet Premium Blends continue their investigation into the cause of the serious adverse effects.

Retailers and wholesalers should discontinue use, stop distribution, quarantine the product immediately, and contact their sales representatives to initiate the return and refund. After contacting their sales representatives, Prophet Premium Blends will issue return shipping labels, verify the inventory, and issue a refund.

Consumers who have purchased Diamond Shruumz products are urged to stop using them, destroy them, and contact Prophet Premium Blends via phone at 209-314-0881 or email at info@diamondshruumz.com with their order number to initiate the refund. Consumers are strongly encouraged to inform Prophet Premium Blends that they destroyed the product to ensure it is no longer accessible.
