The Scriptural passage for today is found in Hebrews 1:9: “You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore, God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” The early Christians are again being encouraged to stay the course and continue their zeal in carrying out Jesus’ mission for all the world. I love the visual of being “anointed with the oil of joy.” We who are Christian are a separate people, and we, too, have been set apart from others by being “anointed with the oil of joy.” We must never take for granted this special treatment. It has happened to us because of God’s love for us and due to our loyalty and allegiance to Him. The Word of God for the people of God; thanks be to God. Amen!

Let’s remember to be diligent in sharing the love, joy, and kindness today with all those with whom we come in contact. Keep in mind that “anointing of the oil of joy” we each have received and never lose sight of it. It sets us apart for a special mission.
Happy Monday!
