An approximately 300 yard strip of land located south of Sanatorium Road erupted into a fast moving grass fire.  The Magee Fire Department, Magee Police Department, and the Simpson County Sheriff Department assisted in bringing the roaring fire under control.

The fire was likely caused by a car which had a tire blow-out.  The bare wheel produced sparks which ignited the area.

 

According to local fireman, the fire traveled very quickly and required fireman working above and below the fire area to contain the fire.
