After Simpson County Schools cancelled classes for today, many were prepared for some major winter precipitation to impact our area last night. However, many Simpson Countians woke up to a different picture. Most places got a generous dusting, coming nowhere close to the forecasted 1-2 inches. Mississippi weather, as we all know, can be very unpredictable, and as the evening progressed yesterday conditions changed. The arctic front that was supposed to lead the rain and bring snow, seemed to instead trail the rain. The cold front simply didn’t keep up with the rain. As always though, any winter precipitation should be taken with the utmost caution. As many travel and enjoy their day off from school, use caution while traveling in shaded areas for ice could still lure in those areas.
