The season only ends the way you dream it for one team, unfortunately, that is not us this year. I am proud of some of the accomplishments of this team. After the first 2 games, nobody expected much from us.
We had 3 returning starters, and a lot of inexperience and injuries. We got better throughout the season and tried to create advantages. Unfortunately, the biggest issue we had all year was consistently running the ball and the ability to stop the run.
We played a really big and physical Franklin County team that had a good game plan. They controlled the ball for long periods of time through a grind-it-out run game. We had poor field position all night, starting drives at the 1 yard line twice, and one drive at the 5-yard line.
It’s always hard to beat a team twice in a year. It is doubly hard to do it at their home.
We had some things in the passing game that were there, but we had some drive killers on a couple of mistakes. Unfortunately when possessions are limited, we just didn’t have time. They were able to run over 6 minutes off the clock in the final drive. I will take time to reflect on the season and team as I do my best to put together a plan that fixes some areas we’re lacking, while strengthening areas where we were strong. The biggest thing we can control now is our response in the weight room, because that will start next week.
Thanks to the seniors who bought in. Thank you to the band, cheerleaders, administrators, district, parents, and community who supported us!
We will be back!!!
23-20. Franklin County wins

Magee and Franklin County battled it out in Friday’s playoff matchup, and the Trojans fought to the very end. Despite a strong effort, Magee came up just short in a tough 23–20 loss to the Bulldogs. It was a far closer contest than their earlier meeting this season, when the Trojans rolled to a 46–20 victory.
The setback moves Magee to 7–4 on the year, but the season has still been full of highlights and hard-earned wins. Franklin County, meanwhile, has been on a hot streak, taking six of their last seven to reach 7–5.
Magee may not have taken this one, but the team showed grit, pride, and the kind of determination that keeps Trojan fans believing.
