The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Ephesians 4:29: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” To the members of the church at Ephesus, the apostle urged the older Christians to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner, much as Christ had done during His earthly ministry, so weaker vessels (new converts) would not lose faith and stray from the fold. Yes, our responsibility is great: we are always to build up and never be found guilty in tearing down. We are to edify (educate) and encourage those who are new to the faith and are perhaps struggling. We should want to turn despair to victory Let us never forget our roles as mature Christians. Amen!
