The Scriptural passage for today is found in Matthew 26:41: “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” The apostle is appealing to the early Christians to be on high alert against the temptations common to all mankind. We are filled with the Holy Spirit when we accept the gift of salvation; however, there is the body’s natural inclination to sin. War between the spiritual and the carnal are ever-present within us. In order to combat the carnal, we must be on guard, stand diligent, and stay focused on the Word of God to help fortify us. We must be strong against the wiles of the devil which are manifested in many different guises. Let’s be alert, pray without ceasing, and keep our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. The Word of God for the people of God; thanks be to God. Amen!
Happy Saturday! Stay focused!
