Alderwoman Suzie Bourn reached out with an inquiry about whether there was a way to help individuals with outstanding warrants feel more comfortable coming in to take care of their outstanding fines.
Following that conversation, and with the agreement of the municipal court judge and the city clerk, the City of Magee will be waiving warrant fees for the entire month of March for anyone who pays their outstanding fines in full. During this time, individuals will only be responsible for the original fine amount, as the warrant fee will be waived.
This is a one time initiative intended to provide an opportunity for people to resolve outstanding court matters, reduce additional costs, and move forward. Once the month of March ends, normal warrant fees will be reinstated.
Anyone who may be affected, or who has questions about balances, eligibility, or payment options, is encouraged to call (601) 849-3344 and inquire directly.
