He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1951-1955 and was assigned to USNTC in San Diego, CA and ended his service at Fleet All Weather Training Unit, Atlantic, NAS in Key West, FL. He was an Aviation Structural Mechanic Airman. He retired with Millcreek in Magee, MS where he was employed as a security guard. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Preceded in death by his parents, Virgil, Sr. and Vontice Turner Farr; sisters, Jennie Bell Graham and Emma Jean Herbal.
Survived by his wife, Cynthia Hanrahan Turner; sons, Ellis Turner, Thomas Turner, Jim Turner (Gayle); daughters, Pam Turner, Lisa Turner; sister, Patricia Robertson (Bruce); five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will hold a private family service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
