According to Tim Bray, Public Works department head for the City of Magee, explained 16 call outs with open/flowing water lines made for a busy weekend plus!
An 8 inch line near NAPA (I49) resulted in a water shut down that affected a large number of house holds.
According to Mayor Dale Berry, “the water lines are repaired—-we are just waiting for an ok from the Mississippi Department of Health.”
Berry also explained that due to many cities experiencing water line breaks, the Mississippi Department of Health is backed up in testing water samples. Until the water is tested and deemed safe, Magee is still under a boil water notice. “We got to get the OK from MSDH,” the Mayor stated.
Tim Bray praised the City workers who stepped up in a time of crisis. A crew from Raleigh also brought equipment to assist with the leaks. Special thanks to Keith Stringer and Steve Womack for their support.
