TROUBLES & HURTS
“We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.”
― Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
Have you ever been in a place in your life that you could not see any good thing happening? Have you ever seen so much hurt and anguish in friends and loved ones that you are ready to give up; you are tired of struggling and fighting?
How do you keep your eyes on Jesus when they are full of tears?
You follow Job’s example. Job had experienced more troubles than any of us would ever wish on anyone! When he was down and out, Job told God exactly how he felt! “I will not keep silent! I will speak out in the anguish of my spirit, I will complain in the bitterness of my soul! (Job 7:11 NIV) Job was sick and tired of being sick and tired! He was mad, hurt and disillusioned! Job had to vent to his God, even if he could not feel God’s presence, he knew God would hear him!
At the end of the book of Job after his conversation with God, we read Job’s acknowledgment of God’s ways.
“I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know!”
(Job 42:1-3, NIV)
“Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time.” ― Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
