Trojans Win Opener

Magee High School began with a road trip that was scheduled for Taylorsville moved to Wayne County due to weather and condition of field. The game was scheduled for 5:00 due to another game being played following the  Magee game.

The weather condition was fair with a soggy field. The field was artificial turf which help tremendously and allowed the game to proceed.

In Friday’s non-league match, the Trojans football squad out scored the Taylorsville Tartars by a score of 35-12.

Taylorsville scored first in the 2nd quarter. The point after attempt was no good.  Taylorsville led by a score of 6-0. Magee answered back when #1 Tristan Newsome scored with a 8 Yd quarter back keeper rushing TD. The point after attempt by #21 Gavyn Chafin was good. Magee led by a score of 7-6 entering halftime.

2nd half, Taylorsville scored on a rushing touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good. Taylorsville took the lead back with a score of 12-7. Magee scored on a passing touchdown when#1 Tristan Newsome connected to #0 Kyerston Tucker. Chafin’s point after attempt was good. Magee was back on top by a score 14-12. Magee scored again on a rushing touchdown when #13 Keywhaun Ducksworth crossed the goal line. Chafin point after attempt was good. Magee increased by a score of 21-12. The Trojans ended the third quarter when #1 Tristan Newsome completed a pass to #0 Kyerston Tucker for the touchdown. Chafin point after  was good. Magee led by a score of 28-12.

Fourth quarter the Trojans would find the end zone one last time when #1 Tristan Newsome completed a pass to #3 DaQuon Levy for a touchdown. Chafin point after attempt was good. Magee sealed the win by a score of 35-12.

In their next game, the Trojans will clash with arch rivals Mendenhall in the 98th Simpson County Super Bowl. The game will be played in Mendenhall. Game time is 7:30.
