Magee Trojans traveled a short road trip down Hwy 49 South to take on the Collins Tigers Friday, September 6, 2019.

Captain for the Trojans were #1 Josh Sanders, #7 Xavier Franks, #53 Chris Hayes, and #54 Jesse Herring.

First quarter Trojans seemed to struggle. 1st possession for the Trojans would find Magee driving down the field only to fumble and turn the ball over to the Tigers. Magee’s defense held the Tigers and Trojans take back possession on downs. Magee’s second possession led to another turn over when Tigers intercepted Pittman’s pass. Magee’s defense would hold strong and allow no score.

The second quarter would turn in Magee’s favor. Magee scored quickly when Pittman completed a long pass to #7 Franks for a touchdown. Point after attempt was not good and Trojans led by a score of 6-0. With 2:41 left in first half Collins found the end zone to score. The point after attempt was no good and score was tied 6-6. Magee would try to add points to the board with :24 left in half with a field goal attempt. Rails kick was not good and the teams would go in to halftime with the score tied.

 

 

 

Third quarter Magee kick the ball off to the Tigers. Collins was called for a block in the back. Tigers would get the ball deep on their own 15-yard line. Magee’s defense would hold the Tigers and Trojans would take over on downs. Trojans scored on the next possession when Pittman made a 4-yard touchdown run. Two-point conversion was good. Trojans would lead by a score of 14-6. With 4:19 left in the third quarter the Tigers intercepted Pittman’s pass for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was good. Tigers tied the score 14-14. With 2:24 left in the third, Pittman ran the ball for a touchdown. Magee attempted the extra point, but the play was called dead for a penalty. Tigers were penalized for off sides. Magee pulled the extra point team and decided to go for a two-point conversion. Another penalty against the Tigers would set the ball on the ½ yard line. Magee again attempted the two-point conversion. The Tigers came up with a defensive play and stopped the Trojans. Magee led by a score 20-14.

Fourth quarter Pittman scored on a 38-yard keeper. The point after attempt was no good. Trojans increased the led by a score of 26-14. #3 Matthew Thurman for Magee intercepted the ball from the Tigers on the 45-yard line. With 5:12 left in the game Magee punted for the first time on the evening. With 1:25 left in regulation Pittman would score. The points were quickly erased from the scoreboard with a holding call against Magee. The Tigers stopped the Trojans on downs forcing Magee to punt. Magee’s defense would hold the Tigers the remaining game to seal the win for the Trojans by a score of 26-14.

Magee will be back in action next Friday at home against Wingfield.
