Magee High School Trojans are moving on to the second round of playoff’s after the Trojans won against Yazoo County Friday, November 6, 2020.

Magee beat the Panthers by a score of 43-0.

Magee won the toss and deferred the ball until second half. Magee wasted no time showing they meant business! The Trojans scored after a few downs with10:48 minutes left in the first quarter when #5 Jaylen Floyd found the end zone on a pass. The point after attempt by #35 Gavin Chafin was good. Magee led by a score of 7-0.

Yazoo County was dropped for a loss on 4th down by #2 Chandler Pittman. Magee takes over possession on Magee’s 21 yard line. #2 Pittman scored on a quarterback keeper with 8:44 left in the first quarter. The point after attempt was no good.  The Trojans were on top by a score of 13-0.

#1 Cayden Bridges got in on the action scoring on a pass from #2 Pittman with 2:14 left in the first quarter. The 2-point conversion was no good. The Trojans increased their lead by a score of 19-0.

With 9:59 left in the half #2 Pittman crossed the goal line again on a rushing touchdown. Magee continues to increase lead by a score of 26-0.

Magee was hot scoring with 1:32 left in the half when #7 Franks received a pass to score. The point after attempt by Chafin was good. Magee led by a score of 33-0.

Magee was not finished with :02 seconds left in the half when #11 Thomas Dyess nailed a field goal to increase the lead by a score of 36-0-0.

The Trojans defense held strong second half. The defense would not allow any points to be be scored. The highlight of the third quarter was when Magee’s #6 Javon (Jody) Durr intercepted the ball on a Yazoo County pass.

With 10:00 minutes left in the game Magee scored for the last time on the evening to seal the win when Magee’s #32 Isaac Tatum scored on a rushing touchdown. Chafin’s point after attempt was good. Magee led by a score of 43-0.

Coach Teddy Dyess stated “We really clicked on offense, and even though we shut them out we were not at our best on defense.” Magee will regroup this week as they prepare for next weeks showdown.

The win advances Magee to the second round. The Trojans will play at home Friday, November 13, 2020 against a talented Morton team. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

Magee moves to 8-0 on the season. The Morton Panthers are 8-2.

Come out and support Magee as they try to remain undefeated and advance to the 3rd round of the playoff’s.
