Magee High School Head Football Coach and AD Teddy Dyess along with the football team received news late Wednesday afternoon October 28, 2020 that the last game of the season scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2020 against Columbia had been cancelled.
Columbia Head Coach and AD Chip Bilderback advised his student body and athletes of the decision to cancel the game due to the safety of all at risk with students being quarantined due to the Pandemic.
Magee was to face Columbia. A win for the Trojans would award the team with the district title. But, the Trojans could have faced a lost and still remained district champs if Magee lost by seven points or less. A lot was at stake for this game.
Coach Dyess stated “This is not how I wanted to win district, but at the end of the day a “W” is a “W” and we will take it.” The Trojans move to 7-0 with the forfeit to become the 3A Region 8 District Champs. Forfeit games are not held accountable against recored until district and playoff games.
The Trojans end season play undefeated. A major accomplishment for the Trojans.
Placing first in the district allows the Trojans home field advantage entering the playoffs. Magee will be at home next Friday, November 6, 2020. Get your tickets early and come out and support the Trojans!
