JACKSON, MISS. – The Mississippi Transportation Commission (MTC) at its June 11 meeting awarded contracts for maintenance projects throughout Mississippi.
There were five projects in the Southern District.
“These projects will help MDOT continue to provide safe and reliable transportation to Mississippi’s traveling public,” said Commissioner Tom King, Southern Transportation District.
The awarded contracts for the Southern District were:
- A $3.1 million contract was awarded to T.L. Wallace Construction, Inc., of Columbia, for intersection improvements on U.S. Highway 49 at State Route 42 in Forrest County.
- A $1.9 million contract was awarded to T.L Wallace Construction, Inc., for a bridge replacement on State Route 512 in Clarke County.
- A $2.7 million contract was awarded to Walters Construction Company, Inc., of Laurel, for multiple overlay projects including approximately 25 miles on State Route 533 from State Route 28 north to the Jasper County line, State Route 537 from Buck Temple Road north to Mayfield Drive, State Route 588 from the Covington County line east to State Route 29, and State Route 590 near the Leaf River Relief Bridge east to Interstate 59 in Jones County.
- A $2.2 million contract was awarded to Dunn Roadbuilders, LLC, of Laurel, for an overlay of approximately seven miles on State Route 28 from the Smith County line east to one mile east of State Route 29 in Jones County.
- A $1.3 million contract was awarded to Dunn Roadbuilders, LLC, for an overlay of approximately five miles on State Route 35 from Delancey Robinson Road to Goss Bunker Hill Road in Marion County.
There were six projects in the Central District.
“Our number one priority at the Mississippi Department of Transportation is to keep the state of Mississippi safe,” said Commissioner Dick Hall, Central Transportation District.
The awarded contracts for the Central District were:
- A $1.8 million contract was awarded to APAC – Mississippi, Inc., for approximately two miles of mill and overlay on State Route 8 from the start of the five-lane section to U.S. Highway 61 in Bolivar County.
- A $150,260 contract was awarded to Gibson and Associates, Inc., of Balch Springs, Texas, for a bridge repair on State Route 25 over Interstate 55 in Hinds County.
- A $444,665 contract was awarded to Sunbelt Sealing, Inc., of Jackson, for bridge joint repair on various routes throughout Holmes and Yazoo Counties.
- A $1.7 million contract was awarded to W.E. Blain and Sons, Inc., of Mount Olive, for an overlay of approximately nine miles on State Route 27 from the Lawrence County line to the State Route 28 intersection at Georgetown in Copiah County.
- A nearly $2.6 million contract was awarded to Lehman-Roberts Company, for multiple overlay projects including approximately 13 miles on U.S. Highway 51 from south of MDOT Maintenance Lot to the Carroll County line, and two miles on State Route 12 from U.S. Highway 51 to the Attala County line, and one mile on State Route 19 from U.S. Highway 51 to the Attala County line in Holmes County.
- A $1.3 million contract was awarded to Dickerson and Bowen, Inc., for approximately one mile of mill and overlay on State Route 878 through Walnut Grove, and two miles on State Route 492 through Walnut Grove in Leake County.
There were 10 projects in the Northern District.
“Safety is always MDOT’s top priority,” said Commissioner Mike Tagert, Northern Transportation District. “These projects will significantly increase the safety and mobility throughout North Mississippi.”
The awarded contracts for the Northern District were:
- A nearly $5.5 million contract was awarded to Lehman-Roberts Company, of Memphis, for approximately nine miles of mill and overlay on State Route 315 from U.S. Highway 51 to Pleasant Grove in Panola County.
- A $3.8 million contract was awarded to Joe McGee Construction Company, Inc., of Lake, for a bridge replacement on State Route 7 over Cypress Creek in Yalobusha County.
- A nearly $9.7 million contract was awarded to Joe McGee Construction Company, Inc., for bridge replacements on State Route 3 from the Panola County line to the Tunica County line in Tate County.
- A $4.2 million contract was awarded to Ausbern Construction Company, Inc., of Okolona, for bridge replacements on State Route 389 over Chewawah Creek and Cane Creek in Chickasaw County.
- A $4.8 million contract was awarded to Talbot Brothers Contracting Company, Inc., and Talbot Brothers Grading Company, Inc., a joint venture, of Nesbit, for bridge replacements on State Route 178 between Potts Camp and Myrtle in Benton County.
- A $2.1 million contract was awarded to APAC – Mississippi, Inc., of Richland, for approximately 11 miles of mill and overlay on State Route 25 from Holly Street to Iuka in Tishomingo County.
- A nearly $1.7 million contract was awarded to APAC – Mississippi, Inc., for approximately five miles of mill and overlay on State Route 182 from U.S. Highway 82 to U.S. Highway 82 through Eupora in Webster County.
- A $1.1 million contract was awarded to APAC – Mississippi, Inc., for an overlay on State Route 363 from the railroad in Saltillo to the Itawamba County line in Lee County.
- A nearly $2 million contract was awarded to Dickerson and Bowen, Inc., of Brookhaven, for approximately nine miles of mill and overlay on State Route 12 from Kosciusko to Ethel in Attala County.
- A $1.5 million contract was awarded to Lehman-Roberts Company, for an overlay of approximately three miles on State Route 32 from State Route 35 to the end of the four-lane in Tallahatchie County.
MDOT will release additional information regarding timelines and impacts to traffic prior to the start of construction.
MDOT will alert the traveling public prior to any changes in traffic.
