Jackson, MS— The Secretary of State’s office encourages the public to be aware of and report any suspicious communications appearing to be from the Tom and Cathy Rea Foundation.

Tom and Cathy Rea of St. Louis, Missouri, won Seventy Million Dollars ($70,000,000.00) in the Powerball lottery in July 2015. However, the Tom and Cathy Rea Foundation is not registered as a charitable organization in Missouri or Mississippi.

Messages were sent via text and recipients were informed of winning grants of hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Tom and Cathy Rea Foundation.  Recipients were requested to contact what appears to be a nonexistent entity at tomcathyreagrant2016@gmail.com.

Please contact the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General’s Office at 601-359-4230 with any questions you may have.
