Former Mayor Jimmy Clyde told of working with Lane from the ground up through the city and fire department.

Representative Price Wallace presented Lane with a proclamation from the Mississippi House of Representatives.  Lane and Price worked together in the 80’s at Wallace Tractor.  Both men served on their city’s fire department.  Price shared humorous stories of their working time.

Benny Hubbard spoke on the grit and determination Lane showed during his illness/operation a year ago.  Benny drove Lane to most of his doctor appointments.

Fire Marshal Charlie Valadie told of working with Lane from the first day he was on the job.  Charlie and Lane have worked hand in hand along with all the firemen to receive a #5 rating in the department.

Buck Craft and Philip Magee presented Lane with gifts from the department .

Lane gave a very emotional speech siting his thankfulness for the firemen who came before him and set the ground work for the department we now have.  Lane thanked his mother who is probably his biggest cheerleader!  The love Lane has for his men, “who are like children to me,” was expressed in this speech.

Refreshments were enjoyed following the program.

Several videos from the night’s activity are posted below.
