When I read my devotion yesterday, one of the sentences that stood out to me was “There are certain people in our lives who by just thinking about them, bring joy as well.”
I immediately thought of Paul and Shirley. These two have been apart of my life, I guess always. My daddy thought Paul Purser was one of the finest men he knew. Who can’t love Shirley—she surely brings a smile to our face.
As the years have gone by, I didn’t see much of my friends. When I learned Paul was very sick…I prayed for that precious family. When he died, I knew we had lost a very good man.
Losing our friends hurts our heart…especially as one gets older.
Paul was very instrumental in the Magee Fire Department where he served for over thirty-two years. He and Shirley were married for 58 years. They raised 4 sons. Paul served in the Army…but spent his life recruiting for the Army National Guard.
People like Paul make a difference. He will be missed.
