Simpson County Technical Center Students Represent Well at HOSA Regional Conference
Members of the Future Health Professionals (HOSA) organization at Simpson County Technical Center (SCTC) recently competed in the Central District HOSA Conference at East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss.
Joined by HOSA members from across Central Mississippi, SCTC students represented well while showcasing their knowledge in various events such as skills, tests, performance and leadership.
SCTC’s HOSA advisor Brenda White said that students compete in concepts that go far beyond their classroom expectations, so they must prepare for competition outside of their regular classroom schedule. Usually, students attend after-school practices or connect with healthcare professionals who serve as mentors.
“HOSA activities take time and dedication. Many students do not realize how much time and effort it takes to be successful” said White. “I am proud of my students. They have worked very hard.”
During the events, students vie for a chance to attend the State Leadership Conference, which will be held on March 23-25 in Jackson. Students must place between one through eighth in their respective categories to join other finalists from across Mississippi at the state conference.
Finalists from SCTC include:
Clinical Nursing
2nd Place – Emily Wicker

3rd Place – Jania Barnes, Reagan Bramlett, Janiyah Jenkins, Joslyn Moore
4th place – Janaiya Griffith, Yasmine Mackey, Aubrianna Wells
