On Monday, October 23, 2017, at approximately 12 o’clock noon Magee Police Department was notified of a vehicle crash involving a Semi Tanker Truck on US Hwy 49 in Magee. Officers responded and witnessed the Semi truck and trailer lying on its driver’s side in the median after rolling over. It appeared that the Semi veered into the median to avoid colliding with other northbound vehicles that were moving slower than the Semi. The Semi entered the center median area at US Hwy 49 and Richard Joiner Rd where it overturned.
The Semi was driven by Christopher Shows of Ellisville, MS. Mr. Shows was taken by AMR Ambulance to University Medical Center in Jackson, MS where he is being treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
As the lead agency in the crash investigation, Magee Police Department would like to thank all personnel who assisted in the incident. Multiple agencies such as Magee Fire Department, Magee and Simpson County Emergency Management, Simpson County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, MS Department of Transportation (MDOT), MS Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), US Environmental Services (USES), and AMR Ambulance Service responded and assisted with the incident.
