During the Special Called Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, January 23, 2020, Supervisor Brian Kennedy, District 3, requested the board revisit the need for an additional ambulance in the county. Supervisor Kennedy also requested for bids.
Hugh Hubbard, a representative from AMR Ambulance which presently has the county bid, requested the decision be tabled until proper representation from AMR Corporate was in attendance.
Supervisor Kennedy stood firm on his motion to receive bids for additional service.
The motion passed with a 3-2 vote. Supervisors Randy Moore and Danny Craft opposed.
The county is presently under contract with AMR. The contract does contain a clause with a 90 day right to cancel from either party.
The board will move forward with bids at a later board meeting.
