To attend state competition requires room and board due to distance.

These students are doing fund raisers and asking for donations to help with expenses.

Please see attached letter and if you can find in heart to help please do so.

Dear Friend and Business Owner,

On behalf of Mendenhall High School, I am writing today to ask you to help support a group of future scientists. Mendenhall High recently held a Local Science Fair. We had over 300 students participate in it. Only 30 students won, three in each of the ten categories. We took eleven of the thirty students to the Regional Science Fair. Out of the eleven, nine placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their category. These students will move on to the State Science Fair. The State Science Fair is held in Oxford MS this year on April 5th.

We are seeking donations to help fund these students. We need $900.00 in order to fully fund this trip to Oxford. We will need to obtain travel expenses, room, and board. As you may already know, Mendenhall High School is a Title 1 School. 85% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Without funding, some of our brightest scientists will not be able to go to the State Science Fair.

Students who win at the State Science Fair are awarded scholarships and a chance to compete at the International Science Fair in Arizona. This is a great opportunity for future scientists to add to their resume and to obtain scholarship money.

We are counting on your support. If you would like to make a donation, you may do so by sending your donation to Mendenhall High School at the above address or you may bring your donation to the school. Any donation is appreciated.

Thank you for your help in reaching our goal in sending these future scientists to the State Science Fair.

Respectfully,

Bobby Young
Science Department Chairman
Biology Teacher

P.S. Any donations need to be received by April 1st. Thank you again for your generosity.
