The Scriptural passage selected is found in Philippians 4:11-12: “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” The apostle Paul was a man of exceptional nature. When he underwent his conversion and became committed to spreading the kingdom of God to include Gentiles, he was relentless and became a true zealot. Paul underwent many trials, hardships, and death because of his beliefs, but he never complained of his lot. He persevered, remained firm in his faith, knowing he would one day receive the prize of the high calling. I so admire Paul’s unstinting conviction and his acceptance of whatever the situation in which he found himself. As Christians, we should strive to imitate Paul’s sterling example. Amen!
