Simpson County School Board held a special called board meeting to determine the need to hire a hearing officer for a hearing requested by a terminated employee.
During the special called school board meeting, no details or information was given concerning the terminated employee or reasoning for termination.
Attorney Wesla Sullivan gave the board two options: 1) To hire a hearing officer to hear the case or 2) the board to hear the case and not hire a hearing officer.
A motion to hire a hearing officer was made by Dale Shots and seconded by Stacey Herrin. Ms Hardy was opposed to hiring a hearing officer. Hardy feft the board could and should hear the case. In a 3-1 vote the board approved to hire a hearing officer.
Board Attorney Welsa Sullivan recommended hiring John Compton of Meridian to serve as Hearing Officer. Ms Sullivan stated Compton had heard cases for Simpson County School in the past and comes highly recommended. With a 3-1 vote all in favor and Hardy against the vote passed to hire Compton as Hearing Officer. Board Member Linda Curele was not present.
No other business meeting was adjourned.
