LAUREL, Miss. — March 18, 2026 — South Central Regional Medical Center is proud to announce it has been included in Newsweek’s list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2026. This prestigious award is presented in collaboration with Statista, the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.
“Being the only hospital in the Pine Belt to receive this recognition is incredibly meaningful to us,” South Central Chief Nursing Officer Tyler Whittington, BSN, RN, said. “Our staff is committed to showing up every day determined to care for our patients with skill, compassion and integrity. This honor belongs to every employee, every provider and every patient who trusts us with their care.”
Proximity and access are of the utmost importance when choosing between top hospitals. The America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2026 ranking was created to identify the top hospitals at the state level. Hospitals from all US states were eligible for the ranking and included in the nationwide survey.
Four data sources were used for the evaluation: Hospital Quality Metrics, Hospital Reputation, Patient Experience and a Statista PROMS Implementation Survey. The hospitals that scored the highest across these criteria have been included on the list.
The awards list is intended not only to publicly recognize exceptional hospitals but also to serve as a reliable resource for patients seeking care. The list, which includes 800 of the nation’s best hospitals, can currently be viewed on Newsweek’s website.
South Central is honored to be recognized on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2026. This achievement reflects the dedication of South Central’s team and its ongoing commitment to providing excellent care to the communities it serves.
