LAUREL, Miss. – South Central Regional Medical Center is excited to welcome child and adolescent psychiatrist Areeba Nasir Zamar, MD.
She earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. She completed her residency in 2023 and her fellowship training in 2025 from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas.
In addition to her studies, Dr. Zamar has also contributed to a wide array of research on topics pertaining to child, adolescent and adult behavioral health.
Dr. Zamar provides medication management and psychotherapy services for children and adolescents for a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to the following:
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • OCD
  • Mood Disorders
  • Trauma and Stress Related Disorders
  • Psychosis
  • Developmental Disorders
  • Learning Disabilities
  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Eating Disorders
  • Substance Use
  • Personality Disorders
“I like to think of myself as not only a physician but an advocate for my patients,” Dr. Zamar said. “Early diagnosis and intervention can improve the lives of many young patients, and I find it deeply rewarding to have this profound impact on the lives of others. I look forward to serving families in the Pine Belt.”
Dr. Zamar joins the staff at South Central Behavioral Health, where she will work alongside Amandeep Singh, MD; Carrie Foxworth, PMHNP; Angela Jones, LPC-S, NCC; Cherish McCallum, LCSW and Aubree Middleton, LCSW.
