Once again Smith County will be host to the Magnolia Beef & Poultry Expo on Thursday, April 6, 2017, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Smith County Ag Complex, located off Hwy. 35 South in Raleigh.
Seminars will be held on poultry and beef industry. Guest speakers will be glad to answer any of your questions you may have concerning your farming operation. Speakers for the day includes Tracy Tomkins from the Department of Environmental Quality. Tomkins will be speaking 9am and subject will be DEQ Permits. The 10:30 seminar will feature farm demonstrations on WW portable corral systems, calibrating a spray rig and demonstration on the GPS tracking system. At 12pm, a poultry panel will speak on new innovative products and at 1:30 Cobie Rutherford, Jr. from the Department of Animal & Dairy Science at MS State University will be speaking on Changing our Perspective with the Non-Farming Community. How do we keep beef at the center of the plate.
You must attend three of the four seminars to be eligible for the grand door prize.
The trade show will feature vendors highlighting the latest products in the poultry and cattle industry. Lending institutions will also be on hand to answer any financial questions you may have concerning loan information on these topics.
Be sure to register for door prizes that will be drawn throughout the day.
The Expo is sponsored by Community Bank in Raleigh, Solar South, LLC, First Financial Bank and the Mississippi State University Extension Service. It is hosted locally by the following county Extension offices: Smith, Jasper, Newton, Rankin, Scott, and Simpson.
Admission is free. A concession stand will be available for lunch. Local farmers and producers are urged to attend this event for the latest information that concerns the poultry and beef industry.
