Two area newspapers the Smith County Reformer in Raleigh and the Jasper County News in Bay Springs closed their door abruptly at the end of June.

Both newspapers were owned by the Buckley family/

The Impact was also closed.

Buckley Newspapers Incorporated has announced the complete closure of BNI’s three newspapers: Jasper County News, Smith County Reformer, and Laurel Impact.
Our final Jasper County News and Smith County Reformer editions were published on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. The final edition of the Laurel Impact was published on June 19, 2024.
We deeply appreciate the committed readers and advertisers who have supported Buckley Newspapers Inc. for decades.
