This past Friday night Simpson Academy hosted Presbyterian Christian School. The first quarter was a defensive battle with neither team finding the end zone. The second quarter saw the Bobcats get on the scoreboard with 11:01 to go in the half on a 2 yard run, the 2 point conversion was no good and PCS led 6-0. PCS would score again with 3:32 let in the half on a 1 yard run, the 2 point conversion was no good and PCS led 12-0. The Cougars answered quickly on a 61 yard touchdown pass from Ethan Flynt to Hunter Cline, the 2 point conversion run by Cook Weathersby was good, and with 3:14 left to go in the half PCS led 12-8. The Bobcats led 12-8 at halftime. PCS would open the second half with a touchdown drive capped off by a 27 yard touchdown pass, the PAT was good and PCS led 19-8 with 7:29 left in the third quarter. PCS would tack on a touchdown with 1:03 left in the game on a 1 yard run, the PAT was good making the final score PCS 26 Simpson 8. The loss dropped the Cougars to a 1-3 record for the season. Leading the Cougars offensively in the rushing game was Dylan Hallman with 14 rushes for 57 yards.

In the passing game, Hunter Cline had 4 receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. Bryce Caughman had 3 receptions for 17 yards, and Ethan Flynt completed 7 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. The Cougars were led defensively by Corbin Hosey in on 10 tackles, Hunter Cline in on 7 tackles, Thomas Pepper in on 6 tackles, and Daniel Pepper, Cook Weathersby, and Michael Winstead in on 5 tackles. Corbin Hosey, Thomas Pepper, Michael Winstead, Cook Weathersby, Tucker Varnes, Daniel Pepper, Austin Creel, and Dylan Hallman all had a sack or tackle for loss for the Cougars. The only takeaway for Simpson was a Caleb Garner fumble recovery. In team stats Simpson had 201 yards of total offense, 95 yards rushing, 106 yards passing, and picked up 11 first downs. PCS had 209 yards of total offense, 147 yards rushing, 62 yards passing, and picked up 15 first downs.

In Junior High action on Thursday the Junior High lost 42-34 to Columbia Academy.
The Cougars will travel to Cathedral in Natchez this Friday with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. This is the 3rd time that the Green Wave and Cougars have faced each other with the series tied 1-1. The Cougars won last years game by a score of 24-0. The Junior High Cougars will travel to East Rankin Academy in Pelahatchie on Thursday with the 7th and 8th grade playing at 5:30 p.m. and the Junior High to follow.
