Simpson JV Boys Track Team Takes District Title

The Simpson Academy Junior Varsity Track Team won the MAIS District 2 AAAAA Championship on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Canton Academy.

In field events, Joseph Jones and Garrison Warren placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the shot put. Warren also placed 2nd in the discus.

Toby Smith won the high jump, followed by teammate Brady McKenney in 3rd place. McKenney also placed 3rd in the long jump.

Cannon McAlpin and Thomas Jones made a strong showing in the triple jump, placing 2nd and 4th place respectively.

Parker Payne placed 5th in the 3200 meter run.

Brason Fox and Cannon McAlpin placed 2nd and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles.

The Simpson 4×200 meter relay team took first place with a time of 1:44.45. The team members were Dalton Smith, Bentley Steed, Thomas Jones and Landon McAfee.

The 4×800 meter relay team made up of Tyler Warren, Kolt Walker, John Thomas White, and Parker Payne, placed 2nd with a time of 10:31.20

The 4×100 meter relay team also placed second. Relay team members were Dalton Smith, Brady McKenney, Cannon McAlpin, and Landon McAfee.

Brason Fox and Brady McKenney placed 3rd and 4th respectively in the 110 meter hurdles.

Dalton Smith placed 4th in the 100 meter dash.

Brason Fox placed 2nd in the 400 meter run.

Kolt Walker placed 3rd in the 800 meter run.

Dalton Smith placed 3rd in the 200 meter dash.

The 4×400 meter relay team took 2nd place. Team members included Cannon McAlpin, Kolt Walker, Thomas Jones and Brason Fox.

The team is coached by Terry Underwood and Chad Teater.
