The Simpson Academy Cougars came up short in the State AAAA Division II championship game.
Lamar, the defending champs, beat Simpson in regular season play and defeated the Cougars in over-time Saturday night.
Each Cougar player gave 100% every play. “You’re my brother” should almost be the theme of this team. The Cougars never slacked. The team battled each down…each play of the championship game. Composed of a group of guys who meshed for greatness, the Cougars shinned both on offense and defense.
The wind was a factor in the game working for and against both teams.
Simpson scored on the first play of over-time but failed with the two point conversion. Lamar scored after 3 tries and kicked a field goal with the ending score 33-32.
