Simpson County’s Own to Take Helm at Two Magee Schools

On July 13, 2023, the Simpson County School District (SCSD) Board of Education approved the hiring of two of Simpson County’s own to take the helm as principals of Magee Elementary School and of Magee High School.

Cindy Allbritton, of Mendenhall, was approved as principal of Magee Elementary School. This is a promotion for Allbritton, who has been the assistant principal of the elementary school for the past two years. An 18-year educator, Allbritton has served in other capacities, such as an English Language Arts teacher, a special education teacher and a homebound teacher.

Duriel Banks, of Mendenhall, was approved as principal of Magee High School. This is also a promotion for Banks, who has been working as an assistant principal of Mendenhall High School for the past two years. Named the 2022-23 SCSD Administrator of the Year, Banks has been employed with the district for more than five years, having served in roles such as social studies and physical education teacher; assistant football coach and head basketball coach; and assistant principal. He has been an educator for 15 years.
