During the Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting Monday, December 4, 2017, Jerri Easterling was presented a resolution honoring Dan Easterling for his twenty-six years of service with the county as Constable.
The board has received four applications interested in the Constable 2 position. Candidates are as follows: Dusty Drennon, Jerri Easterling, David Joe Garner, and Chris Jones. Drennon was the only candidate present at the meeting and was allowed to voice his interest in the position. The board agreed to take the applicants into consideration until next board meeting when a decision would be determined to fill the position.
The board approved to purchase a 10 foot bush hog for $15,244 and a 15 foot cutter for $17,988.
Two vehicles were agreed upon to purchase. Glen Jennings, Emergency Management, asked for a new Explorer at a cost of about $32,000 with all equipment. Charles Baldwin, Tax Assessor, asked for an Explorer for the field inspector at a cost of approximately $28,000.
Sheriff Donld O’Cain expressed the success in the Church Security Active Shooter meeting that was held. The sheriff also advised the officers held an Active Shooter class at Simpson County Academy, and plan to hold a class at Simpson Central, Magee and Mendenhall schools.
Meeting was recessed to go into executive session.
