The Simpson County School Board met with Architect Jeff McGee of JH&H Architects concerning renovations to Mendenhall School’s old Head Start Building during their regular scheduled board meeting Thursday, June 11, 2020.  Greg Paes. Wesla Sullivan, Patrice Boykin,

Danny Cowart, and Stacey Herring were in attendance.  Lilly Hardy and Stan Bulger attended by Zoom.

The board asked Superintendent Greg Paes to obtain the potential cost to renovate the building for the 5th grade at Mendenhall Elementary. After inspection of the building, the board felt the cost for a new building might be the best investment. The older building has several issues that would cost a substantial amount of money to renovate. The board voted to demolish the building along with the old cafeteria.  A decision on building a new building were tabled until after the budget approval and a better understanding of what percent budget cuts from the state will be enacted.
