Simpson County Lake is finally ready for the public!

Josh Howell, MS Wildlife and Sue Honea

Kick off festivities began Saturday June 3, 2023 for Youth Fishing Day.  (Yes, that means no adults can fish—ages up to 15).  Boats will be allowed in the water from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  No fishing license is required for 15 and under.

The Lake will open to the public on Wednesday, June 7th at 6 AM.

According to Josh Howell of Mississippi Game and Fish Commission, the camp grounds, piers, launch areas are upgraded.

We have a new and improved lake!  Skiing days are Thursday afternoon (12:00 PM-) and Sunday afternoons (12:00 PM).  The commission is requesting skiers not ski on Thursday, June 8th due to the fishing crowds anticipated.  All holidays allow skiing!

July 4, 2023 is another “Free Fishing Day.”

Take advantage of National Fishing and Boating Week (June 3-11) and appreciate the beauty of Mississippi’s waters.
