The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) has presented the Central Mississippi Planning and Development District and the Simpson County Economic Development District its 2015 Innovation Award recognizing innovative approaches to regional economic and community development. CMPDD CEO Mike Monk presented the award at the January meeting of the Simpson County Development Foundation officers and directors. He noted that SCEDD’s award was only one of seven presented nationally in the area of Aging, Health, and Human Services. SCDF Executive Director Donnie Caughman accepted the award on behalf of the District. Also attending from CMPDD were David Wade, Gray Ouzts, and Don Smith. NADO sponsors two annual award programs — The Innovation Award and the Excellence in Regional Transportation Award — to nationally recognize the impressive efforts of regional development organizations. Both awards provide an excellent opportunity for members to promote their successes to a national audience and with their regional and local partners. Applicants must be members of NADO, and projects must show substantial quantitative or qualitative results in your region.
The Innovation Award honors significant advances in community and economic development, including but not limited to small business finance, energy and infrastructure projects, housing and human services, sustainable development, workforce development, and more.
The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) provides advocacy, education, research, and training for the nation’s regional development organizations. The association and its members promote regional strategies, partnerships, and solutions to strengthen the economic competitiveness and quality of life across America’s local communities.
