During the Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting Wednesday, July 15, 2020, the board made changes to their protocol for employees exposed to COVID-19. Exposure to someone who has come in contact with the virus is to the point of when and not if. The board approved: if an employee is exposed to someone who has had coronavirus and is not showing symptoms, the employee will be allowed to continue to work as long as symptoms are not present. If the employee shows symptoms, the employee will require testing and not be allowed to return to work until a negative test result is received.
Supervisor Mitchell Chatman made a motion requiring all employees and visitors entering county buildings to be wear masks. No second was received and motion died.
EMC, John Kilpatrick, reported one fire, located on Jupiter Road, for the county. Killpatrick reminded the board of a 911 board meeting July 29, 2020. Kilpatrick advised numbers are increasing for the county and encouraged everyone to wear mask and observe social distancing.
Sheriff Paul Mullins presented the following report which was approved by the board.
- The fiscal year 20202 MS Leadership Council on Aging(MLOC) grant was closed out and check made payable to MS Department of Public Safety in the amount of $10.72.
- The sheriff’s department was granted permission to apply for the fiscal year 20221 MLCOA grant in the amount of $1200.00.
- Permission was granted for department to apply for the fiscal year 2020 State Homeland Security Funding Opportunity.
- Permission was granted for the department to apply for the fiscal year 2020 Coronavirus Emergency Supplement Funding Allocation in the amount of $10,000.
- The board approved for Devon Thurman to attend the Simpson County Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in the amount of $250.00.
- Approval was granted to renew the yearly contracts with PackTrack fr K-9 Hero/Handler Joe Andrews in the amount of $100.00. PackTrack is an app to keep up with K-9 and handlers training.
The following report by County Administrator Rhuel Dickinson was approved:
- Approve the signing of the Trustmark Lease Purchase agreement for the lease of the two new motor graders.
- Approve the signing the contracts with American Fidelity and announce the schedule for Insurance and Cafeteria Plan Employee meetings Monday, July 20-24, 2020.
- The board authorized the continued extension of the Emergency Order for Bridge Repairs and the emergency Order for COVID-19 Wuhan Coronavirus.
