The 2018-2019 Basketball season has been historic for Simpson Academy, and an honor to witness. Both teams made it to the Overall State Tournament; with the Varsity Girls losing to Leake Academy in the Semi-Finals, and the Varsity Boys losing in the Quarter-Finals to Jackson Academy. However, what made this season so incredibly special, was the fact the both teams won State Titles in their home gym. Also, boys head coach James Crain was able to grasp his 1000th win at home in the State Championship. Not only did the two teams win State Titles, the boys won a District Title and the girls were District Runner-Ups. The Simpson Basketball Program had an extremely succesful season led by two legendary coaches, and we hope to see another successful season next year. With Basketball Season now in the rear view mirror, my focus will now turn to spring sports. MageeNews.com hopes to continue to bring your powerful insight into sports and athletics, stay tuned for more.
