Mike dedicated his life to serving the Lord, his family, and others through the gift of music. For over 50 years, he ministered across the South through Southern Gospel music, sharing the love of Christ with his powerful voice and gifted piano playing. He was a beloved member of groups like The Southern Envoys and The Revelations, using every opportunity to glorify God through song.
Mike was a faithful member of Rials Creek Church and a devoted husband to Brenda Lee Welch for 44 years. He deeply loved all of his “babies”—David, Chante, Charity, Daniel, Karli, Gaven, Maddie, and Mikayla. He was proud of all they accomplished in life, but nothing brought him greater joy than seeing them serve the Lord.
His greatest passions were his Savior Jesus Christ, his family, and the joy of ministering through music. He will be remembered for the light he brought into every room, the music he carried in his soul, and the legacy of faith and love he leaves behind.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Lee Welch; parents, Sidney David Welch and Dorothy Brown Welch; brother, Perry Thomas Welch.
Survivors include his son, David Michael Welch (Charity) of Mendenhall, MS; daughter, Chante Nicole Welch Ferguson (Daniel) of Mendenhall, MS; grandchildren, Gaven Ferguson, Karli Welch, Madelyn Ferguson and Mikayla Welch; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.
Pallbearers will be Gaven Ferguson, Timmy Magee, Chad Savage, Darrell Mobbs, Jamie Ferguson, and Jonathan Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers will be Criswell Brown, Stan Runnels, Jeff Bennett, and Barry Borchers.
