Dress an outfit up or down with shoes. An outfit can look cute, athletic, sophisticated, fun or trendy depending on your shoes. Sneakers can make an outfit cute or athletic. Sandals can make you look laid back or casual. Heels help you look chic and powerful.
As I have gotten older, I’ve found the balance between comfort and style in my shoes. The following are my picks for the best shoe styles.
Sneakers with Style
Sneakers – Sneakers are so stylish. There are all types of options for you if you want comfort or great design. I don’t wear sneakers much but when I do I select a slim and sleek pair. They are good for the health of your feet but can also be cute, fun, and fashionable. My two pairs I have are fashion-forward with detail and glitter. My two pair of sneakers that are pictured are Mossimo Company on left and Kate Spade on right. Remember, in an earlier article I mentioned athletic shoes should only be worn in the gym, sneakers are for style. My favorite brands of athletic shoes are Brooks, Adidas and Asics. They say find a brand that fits you well and stick with it and these are the ones that work well for me.
Sandals
Sandals –Sandals are casual shoes for any occasion to be relaxed and easygoing. These occasions can be for running errands, picnics, or just spending time with your kids. They are versatile because they go with most outfits whether its skinny jeans, casual dresses, or crop pants. Sandals are the shoes to grab when you don’t have the extra time to think too hard about what looks nice because they look good with almost every outfit! My sandals are Tory Burch and Sofft.
Wedges Offer Style with Comfort
Wedges -Wedges are a great balance between comfort and added height. That’s a good thing for a short frame as myself. If you are not comfortable in pumps or stilettos, wedges usually have extra padding on the insoles, which is good for you! Everyone can wear them and walk in them. They are perfect for raising the level of most outfits without looking overdone. Remember, when selecting wedges for heels they can be found in every style shoe, from winter boots to summer sandals. I wear them with jean shorts to elegant maxi dresses. My wedges that are pictured are Tory Burch and Nine West.
High Heels – Shoes for Every Occasion
Heels -Sometimes we all need the sophistication that heels bring to an outfit. They add glamour to your casual wardrobe staples like jeans and T-shirts and are a must-have for formal wear. Since I am a shoe girl — they are the shoes I love the most! They can be stilettos, tie-up, strappy, colorful patterns, jewel embellishments, metallic, block heels, open toe, closed toe, and pointed -toe. I love them all! My preference when selecting heels is the pointed-toe, they look the best on me. I have never been able to pull off wearing many heels taller than a 3 1/2 inch and feel comfortable. I want to feel good in my shoes no matter how long I might be wearing them. The last thing I want to be thinking about is when I will be taking them off if they are uncomfortable. Although I’m only 5′ 3 1/2 inches tall I do want to be stylish so I wear 2 inch heels up to a 3 inch or 3 1/2 inch. When traveling if you take a black and beige pair of heels they are very versatile with most anything you’ve packed whether casual or dressy. Shoes are the easiest way to dress an outfit up or down!
