Shirley’s, a retail business located on Highway 49 in Collins, caught fire Sunday night, March 10, 2019, burning to the ground. The 55,000 to 60,000 square-foot commercial building housed clothes, furniture, rugs, home items, fabric, flowers, floral arrangements, luggage, and other accessories.
According to the Collins Fire Department facebook page, “the building was 3/4 involved upon arrival and the fire progressively moved to the north end of the building.” The FB video also stated that the building is all metal construction with lightweight trusses.
Cause of the fire is unknown at this time. There were no reported injuries.
