The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18: “According to the Lord’s own Word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will come down from Heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore, encourage each other with these words.” Here we have outlined within these verses the actual coming of the Lord. The dead in Christ will rise first, and those who are still living and have accepted God’s gift of salvation will then be taken up in the air with Christ Himself, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. We’ve been told repeatedly in God’s Word that we’d never be forsaken or left alone. At this time, the Holy Spirit will have completed His work as our comforter and guide. We’ll at last be with the Trinity and all the heavenly host in our final home where we’ll be reunited with our loved ones. What a glorious day that will be! Yes, when the saints go marching in, oh, Lord, yes, I want to be in that number. If you have not made preparation, do not put off this all-important point of business.
