SCTC LAW & PUBLIC SAFETY CLASSES TOUR MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS!

Students enrolled in the Law and Public Safety program at Simpson County Technical Center recently toured the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility located in Rankin County. Getting a firsthand look at prison life, students heard from several offenders as they talked about their life in prison and what led them there. They discussed the importance of attending school, obeying parents, and working toward goals that would enable them to have a successful future. They also spoke with youth offenders who voiced the negative impact making bad decisions have had on their lives leading them to the prison system. In addition, students learned about the many career opportunities within the Department of Corrections.
