Simpson County Technical Center is proud to present their Construction/Carpentry class.

At SCTC, Construction, a first-year program, introduces students to fundamentals of construction safety, tools, construction math, blueprint reading, basic carpentry, electrical, masonry, and plumbing skills. Carpentry, a second-year program, is an in-depth study of foundations, wall, ceiling and room framing, windows and doors, and stair layout. Upon completion of this course, students may choose to complete the Contren Level 1 Certification.

SCTC students enrolled in Construction/Carpentry also have the opportunity to participate in SkillsUSA, a partnership of students, teachers and industry that provides student programs, events and competitions, and promotes excellence in career and technical education programs.

Pictured are students in the workshop making Christmas presents they hope to sell. Monies raised will be donated to buy more materials to build things in the shop. Johnie May is the instructor.
