Simpson County School District is now in search of career coaches to develop a career coaching program at both its high schools, thanks to a significant investment by AccelerateMS.
Magee High School and Mendenhall High School will soon benefit from a career coaching program designed for public high schools across the state of Mississippi, as the result of an $8 million investment by AccelerateMS. Supporting a significant expansion of the career coach program in Mississippi public high schools, the program aims to connect and prepare high school students with Mississippi’s most in-demand careers. The $8 million project is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
“Through the work of local leaders in Northeast Mississippi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, our state has built a career coaching model that is transforming the future for students in our K-12 system,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “This dramatic expansion is a direct investment in the future of thousands of Mississippi students and will impact our state for decades to come.”
Individuals interested in becoming a career coach at Simpson County School District can apply on the Central Mississippi Planning & Development District website at www.cmpdd.org/workforce. The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 28.
