SCSD Hires MSBA to Assist in Superintendent Search

The Simpson County School Board met Tuesday, January 26, 2021 for a special called meeting to determine to next steps in seeking a new Superintendent.

Mississippi Superintendent Search Consultant Tommye C Henderson, PH.D met with the board to discuss the process option to hire a Superintendent.

The board voted unanimously to hire the Mississippi School Board Association to assist in hiring the new Superintendent for Simpson County. Numerous counties are seeking the help of the MSBA for Superintendent searches. The cost for the compete search is $10,500.00.

The MSBA will advertise for the position, conduct stakeholder meetings, develop an announcement brochure, prepare the application, evaluate the application, and interview each candidate. MSBA will report back to the board after all process have been completed. A list of all applicants, interviews, qualifications, and research will be given to the school board.  Simpson County School Board the will take all information presented and conduct final interviews of the candidates.

All candidates will be required to meet the Mississippi Superintendent Qualifications MS Code of 1972 Section 37-9-13 Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) Alternate Qualification Criteria Mississippi Attorney General Opinions.

MSBA will not hire or rank any applicant. MSBA will only compose information, verify qualifications, and present data obtained allowing the board to conduct final interviews and decision on any candidate.

Once a Superintendent is chosen, MSBA will assist the board’s attorney with contract preparation, notify unsuccessful candidates, and conduct a leadership workshop with board and new Superintendent.

The board’s goal is to choose a new Superintendent by May and  ready for employment by July 1, 2021
