Congratulations to Bailey Nicole Sartin for receiving the HOBY Award from Simpson Academy. Bailey was selected for her outstanding leadership ability and will represent Simpson Academy with pride at Millsaps College in 2016.
Bailey is the daughter of Ben and Joy Sartin of Mount Olive, and is a Sophomore at Simpson Academy.
Bailey and 4 others submitted a statement what leadership meant to them and why they thought they qualified to represent. Followed by an interview with Jamie Rogers, Counselor at Simpson and Head Master, Billy Wayne Hankins.
Bailey has been a member of the student council the last four years, Honor Society, Class Vice President last four years, Sophomore Homecoming Maid, MAIS All District Softball, and FAB 15 past 3 years.
State Leadership (LS) Program is HOBY’s flagship program allows high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. Students attend three- or four-day seminars and participate in hands-on leadership activities, meet leaders in their state, and explore their own personal leadership skills while learning how to make a positive impact in their community. The seminar curriculum is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership and develops leadership from three perspectives: Personal Leadership, Group Leadership, and Leadership  for Society. – See more at: http://www.hoby.org/about/programs#sthash.taG9jdNn.dpuf

What is Hoby:

Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.

HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBY programs provide students selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences.

HOBY also provides adults with opportunities to make a significant impact on the lives of youth by volunteering. Over 4,000 committed HOBY volunteers plan and execute the programs each year, serving both at the local HOBY affiliate level and on HOBY’s Board of Trustees. Due to the selfless efforts of volunteers and the contributions of generous donors, nearly 10,000 students participate in HOBY programs annually.

Today, over 375,000 proud alumni make HOBY stronger than ever. HOBY alumni are leaders in their schools and communities, throughout the United States and the world, making a difference for others through service. Want to see the impact of HOBY firsthand? Get involved as a student, school, parent, alumna/us, volunteer or supporter.
