Fifth grade FLAG students were challenged to become engineers to make paper roller coasters in teams of three. Pictured above are Kaycie Liddell, Kat Ellzy, and Paxton Fortenberry (from left to right) showcasing their roller coaster named the “Hurricane” which included paper hurricanes labeled with names of real hurricanes. The roller coaster included two funnels, a loop, and a tunnel and was awarded “Most Complex Design” and “Best Scenery” from their peers.” Bryan D’Avy, Mason Westmoreland, and Caitlyn Henry display their roller coaster named the “Tiger.” This group showed their SCS tiger pride in all elements of their roller coaster winning the “Best Theme” award from their peers. Blaine Williamson, BJ Johnson, and Kharlie McCullum display their roller coaster named “Losing Your Marbles.” Their roller coaster was named the winner of “Most Creative Design” award from their peers.
