Reverend Judene Purser, 92, of Magee, Mississippi, passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home Tuesday, May 19, 2020, in Florence, Mississippi. He was born Sunday, June 26, 1927, in Simpson County.
Graveside Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 22, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Sharon Presbyterian Cemetery in Magee. Reverend Terry Fant, Dr. Ronald Purser, and Bro. Billy Purser will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031
Reverend Purser was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Magee. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, and brother. During his life, he served as a pastor in Simpson, Smith, and Rankin Counties for 51 years. He served our country in the United States Army during WWII. He was determined to continue serving the word of the Lord until the day he died. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Frances Allen Purser; one daughter, Sara Jane Purser; parents, Breland and Pearlie Purser; two great-grandchildren, Heidi Morgan Purser and Carson Judene Purser; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Purser; two brothers, Willie Ray Purser and Johnnie Cecil Purser; and one sister Mary Nell Mathis.
Survivors include two sons, Billy J. Purser of Magee, and Dr. Ronald D. Purser (Brenda) of Collins; three daughters, Judy Purser Roberts (Billy) of Florence, Susan Purser Cobb (Bo) of Mize, and Sherry Purser Meadows (Mike) of Mt. Olive; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great- grandchildren; three sisters, Jewel Grace Harper (Tommy) of Pineville, LA, Sandra Ware of Laurel and Peggy Thornton of Magee.
Pallbearers will be Herschell Brewer, Billy Purser, Jr., Chris Shoemaker, Benjamin Purser, Tyler Barnett, and Charlie Meadows. Honorary pallbearers will be Kannon Greene and James Ingles.
